Joseph Iseri is a PhD student in the Japanese Section studying Japanese language/linguistics. He was selected as a fellow of the JSPS Summer Program 2024. Joseph will be a Visiting Researcher at Osaka University under the guidance of Professor Matthew Burdelski who will be joining the EALL department next academic year as a Visiting Professor.

The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Summer Program provides opportunities for young pre- and post-doctoral researchers from North America and Europe to receive an orientation on Japanese culture and research systems and to pursue research under the guidance of host researchers at Japanese universities and research institutes over a period of two months during the summer.
