I am an Instructor of Chinese in the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. I have been appointed as Fall 2018 Faculty Resident Director in Shanghai Tongji University by the Study Abroad Program at University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. I received an M.A. in English with Teaching English as a Second Language Option (TESOL) and Teaching Chinese as a Heritage or Other Language Certificate from California State University, East Bay. My teaching specializes in Chinese for business and professional purposes. My research interests constitute Chinese for specific and professional purposes, assessment and evaluation, teaching and pedagogical strategies, as well as instructional material development. Further, my current work focuses on study abroad and intercultural competence. My research interests constitute Chinese for specific and professional purposes, assessment and evaluation, teaching and pedagogical strategies, as well as instructional material development. In 2015, I was nominated for Excellence in Teaching Awards. On March 24th, 2017, I participated and presented with Dr. Song Jiang and other colleagues at the 2017 Assessment for Curricular Improvement Poster Exhibit. Our poster “Implementation of Integrated Performance Assessments (IPA) in Beginning Level Chinese Language Classes” won the Best Use of Results Award. I was also nominated for the Best Faculty Engagement Strategies Award.
